A 22-year-old Pelican Rapids woman was charged with DWI and other offenses after she allegedly drove through a recreation area and injured unsuspecting campers.

Authorities allege that the woman was driving through an Otter Tail Lake camping area “at a high rate of speed” around 2:30 a.m. on June 22. She reportedly almost hit several occupied tents before a second woman took away her keys and forced her to stop driving.

That second woman was injured as she was trying to stop the woman from driving.

Police said the woman’s blood-alcohol content was 0.189 when she was arrested. In Minnesota, the legal limit is 0.08.

The woman has now been charged with three felony counts of criminal vehicular operation and one count of third-degree DWI.
